About me

👋🏼 Hi there, I’m Nathan Tanner.

I’m the founder of 824 Ventures, an executive coaching and leadership development firm. I’ve coached leaders at high growth startups and bellwether companies including DoorDash, Google, Electronic Arts, LinkedIn, Procter & Gamble, Neighbor, and Lyft. I work with exceptional leaders and love helping them lead effectively and live intentionally.

Before becoming a full-time coach, I was the VP of People at Neighbor, an a16z-backed startup that raised $50+ million to disrupt the storage industry.

Prior to Neighbor, I spent 4.5 years at DoorDash where I was hired as the first head of people operations and scaled the company from 250 to 5,000+ employees. I built the first leadership development program and coached more than half of the executive team.

Prior to joining DoorDash, I worked in HR at LinkedIn where I designed my own rotational program, working as a compensation analyst, recruiting specialist, and HR business partner.

I started my career on Wall Street at Lehman Brothers where I had a front-row seat to the largest bankruptcy in history. While brutally challenging at the time, this experience altered the trajectory of my career and helped me become the leader I am today.

I’m the author of the career strategy book, Not Your Parents’ Workplace, and regularly write here and for Forbes, Inc, and Fast Company.

I’m an IRONMAN triathlon finisher, hold an MBA from Brigham Young University and was trained as a coach at the Co-Active Training Institute. I live with my wife Whitney and our four kids in southern Utah.
