Day 17: Long Walks (30 Days of Gratitude)

I just got back from a long walk. Once the kids were asleep in bed, I put my headphones in and headed out.

I listened to a General Conference talk. Then I listened to parts of The Icarus Deception by Seth Godin. Then my older brother Facetimed me. (He thought he saw a picture of me in a news story about Friday\’s power outage in San Francisco. False alarm, but the guy looked very similar.)

Then my cell phone died.

I finished the last 10 minutes of my walk in silence. No technology. No distractions. Just me, the street lights, and the stars.

I love going on walks at night. Long walks calm me. The monotony of putting one foot in front of the other produces clarity of thought. I\’m always in a better mood when I get home.

I\’m grateful for long walks.
