Day 6: April Baseball (30 Days of Gratitude)

April might be my favorite month*. It means the weather is warming up and Angels baseball has arrived. What makes April baseball so special is that regardless of what experts/analysts have to say, I have hope that this is the year my team goes all the way.

I grew up in Anaheim. We shared season tickets with my cousins and I regularly attended Angels games. My mom, who isn\’t normally a big sports fan, got so into it one year that she called in to a post-game radio show to discuss the team.

The start of this season has not disappointed. Last night the Angels came back from a 5-1 deficit to beat the Rangers in extra innings. The previous game they trailed Seattle 9-3 before scoring seven runs in the bottom of the 9th to pull out the victory. Two games. Two walk-off wins. Eight games in, they have the best record in the American League.

Despite the hot start, the Angels are projected to finish below .500 and miss the playoffs. Maybe. But the start of a new season means that I can dream.

I\’m grateful for April baseball.

*My wife was born in April, so I have another great reason to love this month 🙂
